Preliminary Task

The video above is my Preliminary task for AS Media Studies, for this task I worked with Amara Bullen and Jodi Lee. We had to show that we could work the camera and by doing this we had to include a door opening, eye line matches, the 180 degree rule and dialogue between at least two characters. We wanted a short film that was based on something simple, therefore we chose to base it on a detention at school. To start with we filmed lots of different shots, we also added a few extra that were different to our original plan. We knew how we wanted it to start and end - However, some of the original shots we wanted were slightly tweaked. After we had all of our shots, we then began to edit our preliminary task on an editing software called iMovie. This was the first time any of us had used this software, we had to play around in order to get it to look how we wanted. We added different sounds such as the 'background noise' at the beginning when the teacher is first introduced, we did this by muting the original clip and playing the background noise on top of it in order to give it a better 'feel' of a school environment. We did the exact same thing with the clock but added a ticking noise instead, although the ticking was a little too fast then we wanted, it turned out exactly how we expected.
